Some good news for poor Jrex

He gave lab meeting today. Based on the preliminary results of this experiment, it looks like he might have something worth publishing. Finally!! The light at the end of the tunnel isn't big enough to run through yet, but at least it's visible.

Of course, Jrex has had a virus for the past week. Miserable. I chatted with my MIL on Saturday. Anything I tell her she prays about. I told her that Jrex was sick and was worried about his mice. Since he was running an experiment on mice genetically modified to not have immune systems, he was worried they might catch his virus. (I think I mentioned this recently...) Anyway, she started laughing really hard. Through her giggles she said, "I have never prayed for mice before! I pray for mice now?" More laughter. I told that story to Aunt Bird on Sunday. She laughed as well, "Hmm..." she said, "Since mice are some of my least favorite critters, I'll just pray for his experiments to go well."

Looks like the prayers have worked. Thanks!

Praying the crack in the door opens to allow publication of results and all the other stuff following publication.

Hope everything goes well for JRex. That's a pretty funny prayer request.

Hey, have you ever read Intuition by Allegra Goodman? I thought of it because it's set in a biology lab, and it's a good read.

OOH! I am keeping my fingers crossed for good reviewers! (I found that one bad reviewer can have you running around doing all kinds of rewrites and etc..)

When you mentioned about MIL praying for everything, I had to chuckle... I think your MIL and my mom would get along famously!

Wow. That would really be awesome. Not I really want a good conversation with Jrex so he can explain the whole experiment and results to me, cuz he`s so good at that and I have always found his research so interesting and important. I`ve been praying, and will continue...

Ah, great that his hard work is paying off and his study is yielding some good results! I always thought animals couldn't catch "human" viruses and vice versa (e.g., dogs don't catch colds from humans), but I can understand your husband's concern in this case. :-)

That is a funny story! I'm so hoping that it all works out so JRex can publish his findings. I'm still smiling about the praying for mice thing.....

Haha... that's a great story about your MIL and Aunt Bird, too!

I'm like Aunt Bird, tho... I'll be praying for the experiment to go well and for him to be published soon.
